We thought you'd enjoy this delightful 2-minute video of two friends—and developing leaders—gleefully explaining the art of compromise with homegrown models they created together in the classroom.
What happens when two people want the same thing? Do you take everything for yourself, or do you share equally with a friend—even if it means getting less than what you want? In today's Hope Clip, Istanbul and Shukri—friends and students at Malik Academy —share the importance of compromise for peacefully resolving a conflict.
"In a compromise, two people have to sacrifice and give something up in order to get something in the middle that they are both happy with," explains Istanbul.
Shukri gives an easy-to-understand example: "If me and my friend wanted to match, and she wanted to wear a red hijab, and I wanted to wear a white hijab, we could compromise and [both] wear a pink hijab."
Fairness and equality are the key. Giving a little in order to make things work can mean you get a lot more in return—from better relationships to a greater understanding of what it means to be a leader!
