"I think empathy is the most important leadership skill. If you're going through something, you need to know how the other person feels."

Kiana's advice for resolving conflicts focuses on our relationships and how best to connect with others. Kiana is a highly creative thinker, an emerging leader, and Achiever at Friends of the Children - Boston, who recently participated in Hope's "Conflict Resolution" module.

In this Hope Clip, she explains the importance of empathy in relationships to resolve conflict. She uses a personal story and insights from her home life as a teaching tool for all of us. Empathy is the ability to understand or feel what another person feels -- and to see things from another person's perspective. It is a key skill in building and maintaining healthy relationships.

Effective leaders use empathy all the time to connect and uplift others. Thank you Kiana -- we were inspired and uplifted by your work, your story, and your ability to communicate in a way that a broad audience can connect to your journey.

"Be who you wanna be - don't ever let someone tell you you can't be."

Words from Zaid to live by. Zaid is an emerging leader, poet, and Achiever at Friends of the Children - Boston, who recently participated in Hope's "Conflict Resolution" module.

In this Hope Clip, he shares his insights on persistence--and offers his original poetry as an inspiration for other young leaders reaching for their goals.

He's got style, "fire," and "fierce" energy.

The ability to persist through struggle is one of the most important aspects of leadership development. In this clip, Zaid captures the kind of motivation and determination necessary to be resilient in the face of criticism and setbacks. The kind that we all need.

His dedication and hard work throughout our program was transformative -- we hope you find his story as moving as we did!
